Putting a Stop to Demonic Activities by Apostle Gabriel-Wealth Olatuja
Mark 5:1-20
They went across the lake to the region of the Gerasenes.[a] 2 When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an impure spirit came from the tombs to meet him. 3 This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain. 4 For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5 Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones.
6 When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. 7 He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!” 8 For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you impure spirit!”
9 Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?”
“My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.” 10 And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area.
11 A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. 12 The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.” 13 He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.
14 Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened. 15 When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. 16 Those who had seen it told the people what had happened to the demon-possessed man—and told about the pigs as well. 17 Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region.
18 As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. 19 Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” 20 So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis[b] how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.
In this article, I will be showing you how demons operate and how to put a stop to their operations.
From the above scriptures, we see how Jesus cast out legion of demons from demon possed man.
How would you know that a demon is involve in anyone's situation?
Below are a highlights of answers to the question:
Anything that controls you or your life, anything you lost control of yourself to or your senses to or ability to is demonic.
For example, addictions are demonic. The victim's loss control and become helpless. Addiction to alcohol, drugs etc is demonic.
For an addict to be set free from the demonic spirit,
1. such person must admitted he or she is powerless over our addiction, and that their lives had become unmanageable. Such person has to acknowledge and allow the power of Jesus Christ to take over them and set them free.
2. such person has to believe that a Power greater than themselves [the power in Jesus] could restore them to sanity.
3. such person must make a decision to turn and will their lives over to the care of God.
Anything that separates you from normal living is demonic. The demon separated the man from normal living, from his family, they made him to live in tombs where dead bodies were burried.
Any force that captures you and prevents you from becoming what God intends you to be, is a demon. It may come in form of sicknesses like mental illnesses, schizophrenia, paranoia, addictions, obsessions, destructive habits, and so on.
Anything that pushes you to self-affliction is a demon. Demon makes the victim to by himself destroy or hurt him or herself. When one enjoys hurting him or herself, a demon is at work.
When you refuse to allow people to help you, when you reject help, when you feel you know all that other people's [godly] advices don't matter, you are possessed by a demon that is working to destroy you.
The demons recognized Jesus as “Son of the Most High God,” but the man could not free himself. Knowing Jesus as messiah, Lord, prophet, miracle worker etc cannot save you from sin, death and demonic influences. To be saved and be free, you have to believe in your heart and accept by confessing with your mouth that Jesus Christ is the son of God and that he is the Lord of your life. By this, you have the God-life [Zoe] in you. You will no longer be an ordinary person. By so doing you have authority to destroy the work of satan and have victory in life. You have to use the authority. You have to walk in the authority in Christ Jesus. The influence of satan and his cohorts will no longer have dominion over you, because you have been transferred from the domain of darkness [demons] and have been translated to the kingdom of Jesus, the son of God. Colossians 1:13-14
The demons shout out that Jesus is “Son of the Most High God,” after falling on their knees. Not every good words, advice, praise or accolades are from God. Some are from demons. You need to be sensitive in the spirit to discern such spirit.
The power of God in the name of Jesus can cast out demons. The seventy persons sent out by Jesus came back and reported, no doubt with astonishment, “Lord, in your name even the demons submit to us!” (Luke 10:17). When you have Jesus and His authority in you, demons will submit to you.
Are you demon possessed or do you have any of the listed signs of demonic influence? Becoming free from demons is seldom a “do-it-yourself” exercise. You need help. You need God’s help, and you need the help of other people. You need to see the ministers of God who would help you to be free from the influence of such demonic forces.
The Greek work "sozo", can also be translated “saved,” “delivered,” or “made whole.”
When you receive the salvation through Christ Jesus, you have not only been delivered from the demon and have not only been “cured” of the terrible burden, but have been altogether “healed” and “saved.” However, you need spiritual guidance by God's people to help you walk in the freedom that you have in Christ Jesus.
When you have Jesus in your life, He brings deliverance from a sinful, guilty conscience, from demons, from a raging storm, from a long-term physical ailment, and from death itself!
Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour today. Say these words out loud with your mouth and believe it in your heart and you shall be saved.

“O Lord God, I come to You in the Name of Jesus Christ.
I believe with all my heart in Jesus Christ, Son of the living God. I believe He died for me and God raised Him from the dead. I believe He’s alive today. I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day. Through Him and in His Name, I have eternal life; I’m born again. Thank you Lord, for saving my soul! I’m now a child of God. Halleluiah!”
